Facilities and Safety Manager

We are looking for an experienced Facility and Safety Manger who can confidently deliver across a diverse operational footprint with experience of delivering through internal resources, building providers, and contractors.

Based in Cambridge, this role will take ownership of our growing facilities. The role includes responsibility for capex on facilities improvement, planned and unplanned maintenance, management of service contracts, and ensuring facilities remain a safe environment that supports Levidian’s employees and brand.


Responsibilities

This role will report to the Head of Engineering and will require excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, including leadership, Levidian staff, and our supply chain and service providers.

  • Planning and delivery of larger building works to include:

    • Requirement document generation

    • Liaison with Architects, Structural Engineers and Building Controls specialists

    • Preparation of Requests for Proposal

    • Contractor selection, working in conjunction with Procurement teams

    • Management of building works implementation through to completion, acceptance and handover.

  • Management and delivery of all PPM activities including ownership of supplier contracts where used.

  • Management of calibration records, asset records and on time delivery of calibration and equipment inspection routines.

  • Planning of site maintenance and repair activities.

  • Supervision of work on site to ensure staff and contractors are operating safely.

  • Structured management of facilities requests including implementing appropriate changes through project ownership and control of a facilities budget.

  • Working closely with the HSEQ team and department leads to proactively identify areas where we can improve safety of the facilities.

  • Responsibility for third party support and service contracts ranging from cleaning and security to maintenance to utilities.

  • Hands on small repairs to the buildings, grounds and internal installations.

  • Conduct weekly fire alarm testing and bi-annual fire drills, as well as other regular tests required.

  • Monitor the site water system in terms of legionella (testing, sampling, external water risk assessments and implementing actions from the water risk assessments). Communicating the outcomes with HSEQ.

  • Ensure the facility skip is collected when full and replaced.

  • Assist with organising the collection of the hazardous waste drums (putting on pallets, shrink wrapping and ensuring they are loaded onto the delivery vehicle).

  • Performing ad hoc, one-off, facility related tasks as needed.


Candidate Requirements

You will have experience working as a facilities and safety manager in environments which include labs, manufacturing, or workshops.

Experience:

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong experience in managing requirements and technical knowledge of common services and systems such as fire alarms, gas safety systems, air handling, AC/HVAC, CCTV, and security systems.

  • Experience establishing new processes and ways of working.

  • Knowledge and experience of the planning and approval process.

  • Experience of working with Architects, surveyors, structural engineers and building controls.

  • Ability to work systematically in response to facilities requests.

  • Logical prioritisation working with sponsors and requestors.

  • Ownership in your work.

  • Management of suppliers and contractors to deliver new projects, planned and unplanned activities.

  • Strong communication skills which you can adapt to clients, suppliers and internal teams.

  • Strong commitment to safety.

  • Good IT literacy.

  • Awareness of gas pressure systems.

  • Experience establishing new processes and ways of working.

Education and qualifications:

  • Facilities management qualification.

  • Safety qualifications such as IOSH advantage.


Location and travel requirements

This role is based at our Technology Centre in Cambridge. We take a flexible approach to hours and understand you may have responsibilities outside of work - let us know how we can work together to accommodate them.

We anticipate very limited travel being required.
